Conflict Managers is a program designed to decrease conflict on the playground. Fourth and fifth grade students are invited to apply to be a Conflict Manager in the fall of each school year. Students make a written application and, if chosen, are trained in teaching problem solving steps and in organizing games suitable for younger students. Students work together in pairs during lunch recess on a rotating schedule. The Conflict Manager's job is not to solve problems for other students, but to help them work through a process that enables them to resolve their own issues.
